I’m a sucker for darks.
I’m going to try to start posting something at least once a day. It’s encouraging to know that I actually have a few readers now. (You know who you are – and again, I’m grateful.) Andrew Sullivan says you need to be posting at least three times a day, or you’re not “taking the job seriously.” But of course, it’s a full-time occupation for him, not to mention his two interns.
Hey, would anyone like to be my interns?

If you, dear reader, are one of these emergent victims of cognitive impairment, I ask you to consider the following points:
- Most of the people in Japan weren’t alive when Pearl Harbor happened.
- Japan is one of the United States’ biggest economic partners. Anything that hurts them, hurts us.
- The tsunami which resulted from the earthquake hit Hawaii. You know, where Pearl Harbor is.
- If there is some cosmic force tracking our cosmic debt, there’s a lot more to say about both our countries’ histories than the events of December 7, 1941.
- Innocent people who have lost their homes and families don’t need ethnocentric pricks telling them that they deserved it.
Goodnight.

As long as I’m taunting powerful people today, Bill O’Reilly writes:
There comes a time when compassion can cause disaster. If you open your home to scores of homeless folks, you will not have a home for long. There is a capacity problem for every noble intent… Personal responsibility is usually the driving force behind success. But there are millions of Americans who are not responsible, and the cold truth is that the rest of us cannot afford to support them.
Every fair-minded person should support government safety nets for people who need assistance through no fault of their own. But guys like McDermott don’t make distinctions like that. For them, the baby Jesus wants us to “provide,” no matter what the circumstance. But being a Christian, I know that while Jesus promoted charity at the highest level, he was not self-destructive.
Oh for Christ’s sake. Not self-destructive? Have you read the Bible?

I don’t think Facebook has an antipathy toward security and privacy, per se. I just think the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing. This morning, I found these two gems in the Facebook Help Center:
How do I change my Page name?
It’s not currently possible to edit the name of a Page. If you would like to change your Page name, you will need to delete your Page and recreate it. The Facebook team isn’t able to change Page names for you.
Can I change the name of my Page?
If an error was made in your Page name when it was created, you have the option to edit the Page name to correct this issue. This option is only limited to Pages with less than 100 connections. After selecting to edit your Page, you can adjust this information from the “Basic Information” section.
Maybe they could cancel their next all-night free-for-all coding binge and instead have a discussion about how the hell they want their website to work.
